When I started my first Chicago bicycle shop back in 2003, it became the first and only shop in the city to offer a mobile bicycle service! Since then, people’s lives have become even busier. Hauling your family’s fleet of bikes to a local shop isn’t easy or convenient. Brick and mortar shops are something people don’t always have the time or money for. Nowadays, bikes and parts are frequently bought online with no friendly place to turn to for installation or maintenance. 3rd Coast solves all of those issues with more affordable pricing, full service, and personalized care right at your doorstep. We are Chicago’s first name in mobile bicycle repair!
Who We Are
When I’m not fixing bikes, I love to race, tour, and ride with my family. I have raced for over 7 years with Wheelfast Racing and more recently with Athletes By Design. With two children, racing and touring have taken a temporary back seat to the family. Today, I’m a retired high school Psychology and History teacher and I am very excited about growing my involvement in the cycling community and photography.
Our Story
I started 3rd Coast Cycles back in 2003 under the name Lakeview Bike on Chicago’s Lakeshore Bike Path. The shop was enormously successful, but the demands of teaching and family life led to its closure and sale in 2010. Since then I have continued to service clients in their homes, and have enjoyed the personalized service and relationships that I have been able to create as a result of working one-on-one with clients and friends. Cycling has had an enormous positive impact on my life in many ways, but the friendships made have easily been the most rewarding gift I have reaped from this sport. Racing, touring, club rides, store ownership, spin classes, community involvement, in-home services have all lent me the greatest life experiences that I could have ever asked for. The culmination of positive effects cycling has had on my life led me to open a new shop on the lakefront in 2017.
