The 10-Step Process

Inspecting wheels on bikeWe’ll inspect your new bike for any damage that may have occurred during shipping, as well as for manufacturer defects. This includes checking for any scratches, cracks, or dents and checking the alignment of the frame.

preparing the bike frame for assemblyDuring this step, we get your frame ready to have parts attached. This includes applying grease and other compounds to various parts of the frame to ensure everything is running as intended.

Installing bike partsThis is the step where we install the pedals, the seat, and the front wheel, as well as any additional accessories your bike came with. Incorrectly installed pedals can lead to major damage to your bike down the line, and a front wheel installed incorrectly could fall off during a ride.

Inflating bike tiresEvery tire has a pressure range that it should stay within to be safe. We inflate your tires to the correct pressure for the size of the tires and the rider. We’ll also make sure your tubes didn’t go flat during shipping.

Adjusting bearingsBall bearings take more force than any other part of the bike. If they’re not properly compressed they will be subject to increased wear and a much shorter lifespan. We make sure your bearings are properly compressed for a smooth ride.

wheel truingWheels are not always true (straight/flat) when they leave the factory. Out of true wheels will rub the brake pads making it very hard to pedal, unless the brakes are loosened which decreases braking power. We use a truing stand to adjust your wheel and make sure it is completely straight, allowing full braking power without causing excessive resistance.

Calibrate DerailleursDerailleurs are responsible for shifting your chain from one gear to the next. We dial in the limits of the derailleur to prevent your chain from falling off and adjust the cable tension so that each step of your derailleur is properly aligned with the corresponding gear.

Calibrate brakesBrakes are one of the most important parts of the bike to get right. We make sure your brakes are adjusted to the correct tension and center themselves properly. We also adjust the brake pads to ensure maximum stopping power.

Check bolt torqueVarious bolts on every bike are responsible for holding parts in place firmly. If these bolts are loose, parts can shift on you while riding, causing a crash or preventing your bike from functioning properly. If the bolts are too tight, they can cause irreparable damage to your bike. We have the equipment to make sure each bolt is tightened to the exact specification.

Ensure proper fitRiding a bike that doesn’t fit you well can cause knee, back, and shoulder pain. When you pick up your bike, we’ll check your riding position to ensure your seat and handlebars are positioned well for you.
